May 9th - May 15th Weekly Poll
If you had a choice to be one of the 8 survivors (including original L4D1 survivors), who would you be?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Survivor: Francis
FRANCIS: Francis is one of the four playable Survivors in Left 4 Dead. He is a large, tough biker with tattoos covering his arms and neck. His tattoos identify him as a member of "Hell's Legion", a name possibly inspired by the real-world Hell's Angels Motorcycle Club. Since his character model has changed, it has been speculated that Francis' new face was modeled after the head developer of the game, Mike Booth, and that he has the Lambda symbol from the Half-Life series cut into his hair. In official media he can usually be seen wielding either the Pump Shotgun or the Auto Shotgun.
Francis, along with Zoey and Louis, appears in Left 4 Dead 2 in the campaign The Passing as they meet with the Left 4 Dead 2 Survivors. Nick and Francis seem to banter toward each other a lot due to their brash natures, although Rochelle also seems to find herself strangely attracted to him.
Cocky, loud, and pretty sure he's indestructible, Francis acts like the zombie apocalypse is the world's biggest bar fight. When the virus hit, everybody else stockpiled food and looked for a place to hide. Francis found a gun and had some fun. No cops, no laws, no order—if it wasn't for all the zombies, he could almost get used to life like this. -Left 4 Dead Wiki
Francis in "Left 4 Dead".
Survivor: Zoey
Zoey, along with Louis and Francis, appears in Left 4 Dead 2 in the campaign The Passing as they meet with the Left 4 Dead 2 Survivors. Unlike her attitude in Left 4 Dead, she comes off as somewhat more serious and, at times, angry. This is probably due to the fact that she is hit very hard by Bill's death. -Left 4 Dead Wiki
Zoey in "Left 4 Dead".
Survivor: Bill
BILL: William "Bill" Overbeck is one of the four playable Survivors in Left 4 Dead, a Vietnam veteran who served in the US Army 1st Special Forces Group. His combat skills have helped to keep him alive. He is also the oldest of the group. In official media, he is usually seen wielding the Assault Rifle, probably to complement his back story. He often has a lit cigarette in his mouth that only extinguishes when he dies.
Bill is killed sometime prior to the events of Left 4 Dead 2's The Passing when he sacrificed himself to raise the bridge for the other three Survivors. Louis's sound files hint that Bill was possibly killed by a Tank.

Survivor: Louis
Louis, along with Zoey and Francis, appears in Left 4 Dead 2 in the campaign The Passing as they meet with the Left 4 Dead 2 Survivors. By the events of The Passing, it seems that Louis has somehow damaged his legs and is unable to stand on his own. Due to this he mans a Heavy Machine Gun during the campaign's finale. -Left 4 Dead Wiki

Survivor: Ellis
Hometown: Savannah, GA
Ellis is a mechanic with a love of life, a firm belief in his own immortality, and the ability to treat any setback as a fun dare to impress his friends. Born and raised in Savannah, Ellis divvies up his time working at the local garage, hanging out with his buddies, and dropping by for Sunday dinners with Mom—why’d anybody want to live anywhere else?
Then the zombies had to go and spoil it. Now Ellis is looking for new things to occupy his time, and finding plenty. It turns out the zombie apocalypse is one big dare, and there’s no shortage of crazy stuff he can try to impress his new buddies. -Left 4 Dead Official Site
ELLIS: Ellis is one of the four playable Survivors in Left 4 Dead 2. He's a goofy, beer-loving smart guy that likes to work with machines. According to Chet, he is "extremely excited" about everything, like managing to visit a concert and kill a lot of zombies, making him more of an optimist, and believes himself to be indestructible. This charactor was modeled by James Blackmen. -Left 4 Dead Wiki
Ellis from "Left 4 Dead".
Survivor: Nick
Hometown: Unknown
A lifetime of drifting from city to city, finding back-alley card games and trying to stay out of jail has taught Nick two valuable lessons: Don’t trust anyone, and look out for number one.
He’d come down to Savannah looking for some gullible fish on the riverboat gambling cruise circuit. Instead he found a city about to be engulfed by infection. Now he finds himself forced together with three complete strangers in a fragile alliance that goes against every instinct he lives by. But he’s going to have to learn to trust them if he wants to survive. -Left 4 Dead Official Site
NICK: Nick (also known as Nicolas) is one of the four playable Survivors in Left 4 Dead 2, voiced by Hugh Dillon. He is a gambler and a conman in a slick, expensive suit. He is also very cynical, so he takes the role of "the complainer" of the Group. Nick joined the other three in their quest to find salvation but is unsure about whether or not he can trust them. Still trying to figure out the best "angle" to get from the recent zombie apocalypse, as time goes by, he starts to value his Survivor compatriots. -Left 4 Dead Wiki

Survivor: Rochelle
ROCHELLE: Rochelle, also called Ro for short, is one of the Survivors in Left 4 Dead 2. She likes to communicate with the world and therefore became an associate producer in journalism. Her news station recently promoted her and sent her to Savannah, the location of the first campaign, to produce a story on the odd occurrences that were happening. Her T-shirt features an image of the British electronic band, Depeche Mode. -Left 4 Dead Wiki
ROCHELLE: Age: 29
Hometown: Cleveland, OH
As a low-level associate producer for a big-name news station, Rochelle's job mostly consisted of lugging cables and fetching coffee. But when the outbreak hit and staff started calling in sick, Rochelle got her break: producing a segment from Savannah about the evacuation center located there. She was still setting up the cameras when her big story became a war zone.
But that doesn't mean she's letting go of her dream job yet. Surviving a zombie apocalypse is just something else she can use her wits and drive to produce the hell out of. -The Left 4 Dead Official Site

Survivor: Coach
Hometown: Savannah, GA
Coach has a big heart, a healthy appetite, and a wicked swing with a chainsaw. After a knee injury ended his career as a defensive lineman in college, Coach salvaged his Physical Education degree (barely) and landed a job teaching health at the local high school in his hometown of Savannah.
Working as a defensive coordinator for the freshmen team might not have been the best path to a pro coaching career; but it’s come in pretty handy in guiding a group of Survivors to safety. Coach has watched his beloved hometown get ravaged by infected—now it’s time to deliver his own brand of Southern hospitality. -Left 4 Dead Official Site

Infected: Tank
TANK: A huge, muscular infected with amazing strength. Can pick up and throw cars and other large environmental items, smash through concrete walls. Players cannot choose to be the Tank; infected players are randomly chosen to spawn as one. Very loud. When you spawn as the Tank, a frustration meter begins building up for every moment you're not in the presence of Survivors. If this meter fills all the way up, you lose control of the Tank. -Left 4 Dead 411
TANK: The Tank, a gigantic, muscular infected that is powerful and difficult to kill. It can knock players backwards, dealing massive damage, or attack from afar by throwing a lump of debris. It also has the ability to bash certain objects, such as cars and dumpsters, towards survivors, causing incapacitation on contact. The tank is the easiest "boss" infected to find since he's very aggressive and is not shy at all. Tanks will smash through walls and pick up large, heavy objects, and show no mercy. Finding them is easy, killing them is hard. -Wikipedia
A Tank in "Left 4 Dead".
Infected: Spitter
The Spitter's mutations enable her to spit out a ball of mutated stomach acid which, upon hitting the ground, spreads out into a large pool. Any Survivors standing within the pool of acid take increasing amounts of damage based on how long they stand in it; this can be up to about 3 quarters of their heath with just one puddle. Overall the Spitter's acid does the most damage of any Infected, but is also the least reliable as it only lasts for a short time, and once it pools out it is stationary and relatively easy to escape. When killed, the Spitter leaves a smaller pool of acid around her corpse. She can sometimes be a bit difficult to hear, making somewhat faint squealing noises as opposed to the more distinct noises other Special Infected make, but the hacking noises she makes when she actually spits are easy to hear. -Left 4 Dead Wiki
SPITTER: The Spitter can project balls of stomach acid that splatter across an area, quickly eroding the survivors' health as long as they remain within it. -Wikipedia

Infected: Jockey
Survivors have limited control over where the Jockey is directing them. The best antidote to a Jockey attack is a shove from a teammate. -Left 4 Dead 2 Official Site
JOCKEY: The Jockey can jump onto the back of a survivor and steer them into other infected or terrain traps. -Wikipedia
A Jockey in "Left 4 Dead".
Infected: Witch
WITCH: The Witch, a passive female infected, who, when provoked by loud sounds, lights, or proximity of survivors, will attack her provoker. She is able to incapacitate or kill the provoker (depending on the difficulty setting) in one hit. If her victim survives, she will attempt to kill them if not killed herself. She can be completely avoided if the player doesn't wish to provoke her. She is well heard by an annoying and far-reaching cry of distress. To be too close is usually a point-blank concept as players who've walked right by her, directly have not been attacked. -Wikipedia WITCH:
The Witch is a unique boss infected that is only controllable by the AI, the player may not control it.
The Witch will not move until she has become aware of the Survivors. Until this time, she will lay on the ground, moaning. It is possible for the Survivors to sneak by without alerting the Witch, if they move slowly and quietly.
If the Witch is alerted, she will run quickly towards the Survivors. She has a lot of health and is very quick. -Left 4 Dead 411
WITCH: The Witch is a member of the Infected, and the only one initially passive to the Survivors.[1] She is also the only non-playable Special Infected, deemed to be "too dangerous" by Valve.[2] She resembles the average female Common Infected, except with some notable mutations. The Witch makes loud and eerie noises which resemble sobbing when in her 'passive' state. The noise can be heard long before the Witch is ever seen, allowing the player a chance to prepare a plan to deal with her. In the night-time she crouches and slumps over, mostly immobile. During the daytime (in Left 4 Dead 2 only), she will sob standing up and will slowly wander, with her elongated fingers up to her face. The Witch, like the Boomer and a few other Special Infected, can cause problems when you shoot her. When a Survivor gets too close to a Witch or damages her without killing her outright she becomes 'startled'. When she is startled, she screams and advances on the Survivor that has startled her with great haste. Once she has reached the Survivor, she will slash at him/her, instantly incapacitating (or actually killing, only on the Expert mode or Realism on any difficulty) him/her. If she is still alive and the Survivor is dead, she will run off sobbing out of sight. The exceptions to this result of damaging her being a close up headshot with a shotgun, known as "cr0wning" her, a well-placed Pipe bomb, or (on Easy difficulty) one hit with the Chainsaw. -Left 4 Dead Wiki

Infected: Smoker
SMOKER: The Smoker is an average sized boss infected covered in growths and boils and has a fifty foot long tongue as its primary weapon. He also releases clouds of smoke.
The Smoker's tongue is fired at the head of a Survivor and wraps around their neck. The Smoker can choke its victim from above by hanging them from its tongue. A choking Survivor is unable to move or attack until another Survivor rescues them. During its tongue attack, the Smoker is helpless, even if it misses. This attack has a cooldown. -Left 4 Dead 411
SMOKER: The Smoker, an infected that can ensnare survivors from a distance with its long tongue and, upon death, releases a cloud of smoke that obscures vision. The smoker is rare on most levels, and prefers higher locations to attack from, like on skyscrapers and ladders. -WikipediaA Smoker from "Left 4 Dead".
Infected: Charger
In addition to knocking over Survivors, the Charger will also grab and carry them away from their teammates, where it will then smash them into the ground. -Left 4 Dead 2 Official Site
CHARGER: The Charger is a charging Special Infected that knocks down everything in his way. The Charger's main purpose is to separate a group of Survivors who are tightly joined by grabbing one and sending the other ones flying through the air (in the same way as getting punched by a Tank). While he matches the Survivors' pace, he speeds up considerably when charging them. However, this increase in speed leads to a slow stop and difficulty in turning. -The Left 4 Dead Wiki
CHARGER: The Charger, an infected with an enormously mutated right arm, can charge into the survivors, seize and separate one survivor from the others. -Wikipedia
A Charger in "Left 4 Dead".
Infected: Hunter
HUNTER: The Hunter is a normal looking infected that wears a dark, hooded sweatshirt and leaps from the shadows upon unsuspecting Survivors to maul them.
The Hunter is able to pounce great distances to land upon the Survivors and proceed to shred their flesh from bone. In order to do this attack, the Hunter must crouch or crawl until the pounce is charged up. The Survivor is held helpless and the Hunter cannot end this attack until the Survivor is killed or the Hunter is knocked off. The Hunter may also use this leap to barrel into a Survivor and knock them backwards, possibly off of a ledge. This attack has no cooldown. -Left 4 Dead 411
HUNTER: The Hunter is an agile Special Infected whose mutation has granted him incredible strength, awareness and dexterity. His role in both Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 is to punish and eliminate Survivors who have wandered or are drawn away from their comrades. -The Left 4 Dead Wiki
HUNTER: The Hunter, an agile infected that can pounce on survivors from great distances. He is silent and fast, usually requiring that a team member help kill him. -Wikipedia
A Hunter from "Left 4 Dead".
Infected: Boomer
BOOMER: an extremely bloated Special Infected. Its mutation has caused it to produce vast quantities of bile, which it uses as a projectile attack by vomiting. If it hits the Survivors, the bile covers them, temporarily blinding them and attracting the Horde. A powerful but fragile Infected, the Boomer's role in Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 is to slow down and sow confusion amongst the Survivors as a group, giving the rest of the Special Infected an opening to eliminate each individually. -from The Left 4 Dead Wiki.
BOOMER: Huge and obese infected that vomits like a fire hose. Can be shot while strafing. When it hits a survivor with its vomit, the vomit acts as a pheromone to the AI controlled normal infected and causes them to focus their attack on that player. The Boomer gets points for all attacks against the target by infected. Moves slowly. Also, when killed, the Boomer does as his name says and explodes, causing all nearby Survivors to become puked on. -from Left 4 Dead 411.
